Hi! I have a sound card built into my motherboard that worked until I
installed XP service pack 2. I used the disk from the motherboard to install
the driver but I keep getting the error "cannot start device". The computer
does recognize the driver, but won't start audio. I've tried uninstalling
the device and rescanning for changes but it's the same every time.

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Go to the manufacturer's website and download the most recent XP drivers for
the soundcard. Make sure there are no issues with SP2.

Double click on the loudspeaker icon in the systray and make sure nothing is
muted and that the sliders are all up to max.

Cheers,
Jerry
